Bangkok-Chiang Mai over land by train

Day 1
You take a local taxi to the train station and buy a train ticket yourself to Ayutthaya. Between 07.00 and 09.00 h. many local trains leave, no need (and not possible) to buy a ticket in advance. Take 3rd class to experience how local Thai people travel. Upon arrival in Ayutthaya you take a local taxi to the Uthong Inn hotel where you will stay tonight. From here it is very easy to arrange your own tour in Ayutthaya, we advice to either rent a bicycle (make sure you ask the reception for a good map) or a tuk tuk who knows the city well.

Day 2
We reserved tickets for you for the express aircon train that leaves Ayutthaya at 08.00 h, be there at least 15 minutes before departure. Through endless rice fields you travel to Phitsanulok where you arrive early afternoon. Cross the street and in 2 minutes you can walk to your hotel, the Amarin Nakhorn Hotel. In the afternoon you could visit the Buddha casting factory or the famous Wat Yai temple. Do not forget to visit the night market near the river, best way to go there is by samlor (bicycle taxi)

Day 3
Our driver will pick you up and bring you to Sukothai. You can either rent a bicycle here or rent a local tuk tuk (cars are not allowed in the park). See the remains of this ancient capital with its beautiful temples and lotus ponds. After that you return to the bus where your driver has been waiting for you and he will bring you back to the train station of Phitsanulok where you take the train to Chiang Mai. At the beginning of the evening you arrive in Chiang Mai and we will transfer you to the cosy Wirya House.

Day 4
Your tour ends in the morning, you could either extend your stay or book another tour. Our office is just 5 minutes from the hotel.
