Day 1
In the morning we transfer you to the bus station where we take the bus BKK-Chiang Khan. You travel through the heart of the North East, a seldom visited area of Thailand. At the end of the day you will arrive in Chiang Khan, a traditional town where time stood still. You will sleep in a traditional Thai teakhouse right at the banks of the mighty Mekong river. Simple but very colorful accomodation with shared bathroom.
Day 2
At sunrise you can see how every family in Chiang Khan offers food to the monks. Enjoy the view from the balcony of your homestay. In the afternoon you will go with the lady of the house to the market to buy fresh vegetables and other ingredients. She will teach you how to cook Thai food, the riverview from the kitchen is certainly the best inspiration you could have.
Day 3
A local tour by bicycle and foot to explore the town with its mostly wooden houses. See how the people here still follow their traditional lifestyle. In the afternoon you have some free time, if you want we could organize a drive to a big lake where we take a raft and go to the middle of the lake where we will be able to swim and relax and have lunch (not included)
Day 4
In the morning our driver will pick you up from your hotel. Via a stunning route along the Mekong river we drive to Nong Khai where we will see the border market and the mysterious Indian influenced Wat Khaek.
At the end of the day you will take the night train to Bangkok.
If you want to travel to Chiang Mai we will bring you at
the end of the afternoon to the bus station in Loei where
you will take the airconditioned sleeper bus to Chiang Mai

You also can continue to Laos, in that case our driver will bring you to the border, our tour in Laos starts at the Laos side of the border which means get your visa on arrival over there (2 passport pictures and US $ 35 or the equivalent in Thai baht), cross the border and your Laos driver will be waiting for you there.
