Umphang Highest Water fall (1130 km)

Day 1
Today we go to the highest mountain of Thailand. We drive to Chom Thong where we visit a very old temple with beautiful wall paintings. After that we drive to the spectacular Mae Klang waterfall. It is still 45 km to the top of Doi Inthanon (2596 meters). We visit two pagodas here erected for the king and queen. There is a beautiful view from here. Also we do a nature walk in a very mysterious forest. After lunch we descend to a Karen village, the largest hill tribe group in Thailand and originally from Burma. We end with the big Vachirathan waterfall, you can swim here. Late afternoon we arrive in Mae Sariang where we will spend the night

Day 2
We drive north along the Burmese border. In this area there are a lot of refugee camps where the Karen people who escaped from Burma live. The roads conditions are very poor, however the breathtaking mountain scenery makes for an interesting journey. Then on the border town of Mae Sot where we visit the border market on the Moei river and a Burmese temple with a giant 45 meters reclining Buddha image. Overnight in Mae Sot

Day 3
We visit the morning market in Mae Sot is very colorful, you will see a mix of Thai, Indian, Burmese and Hill tribe people selling local products.
Then

we travel to the Umphang district. It is a beautiful journey and on the way we will stop at some viewpoints and hill tribe villages. We pass Pacharoen Waterfalls with its 97 Steps. At noon we arrive at a Hmong village where we have lunch. We continue towards Umphang and stop in the Karen village Mae Klong Kee. In Umphang we camp on the streamside at Umphang Hill Resort . After dinner, enjoy campfire and relax.

Day 4
After breakfast we will go to the Thi Lo Su water falls, the biggest waterfall of South-East Asia and the 6th. biggest in the world. Enjoy swimming, fishing or relax. We probably can not reach the falls by car so the last part we have to walk. Enjoy swimming and relaxing at the falls. Then we driveback to Mae Sot where we will spend the night.

Day 5
Sukothai is the first capital of Thailand. Here we will rent bicycles and see the remains of the city, more than 700 years old. After that we will drive back towards Chiang Mai where we arrive at the end of the day. The landscape will change from flat to mountainous, an evidence that we are in the north of Thailand now.
